HRT Pre-Payment Certificate

From the 1 April, the Government is launching the HRT Pre-Payment Certificate (PPC) to reduce prescription costs for women receiving Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).

The HRT PPC will be available to buy in one single payment online at www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/hrt-ppc, or in-person at some pharmacies. You can call 0300 330 2089 for help and support.

Before buying an HRT PPC, you should check if:

Electronic Prescriptions Service (EPS)

All prescriptions generated at the practice are processed electronically. Please let us know your preferred pharmacy and your prescription will go straight there saving you a trip to the practice to pick it up.

If you don’t have a nominated pharmacy, then when you come to the practice to collect your prescription you will receive a white paper ‘token’. This token will have a barcode printed on it –  the pharmacy will scan the barcode and they will be able to then dispense your prescription for you.

Medication reviews

If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review in order to prescribe mediation safely. We will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.

What to do with old medicines

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

About pharmacists

As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists based in the community at chemist and pharmacy stores can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:

  • Coughs
  • Colds
  • Sore throats
  • Tummy trouble
  • Aches and pains

They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.

Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
